Yala
and Bundala are the two main wildlife
|
|
| centres
in the South, but not the only |
| ones
!. When in Tissamaharama, you can |
| go
for a morning safari to spot Elephants and |
|
Deer and if you are lucky see a Bear or Leopards. An |
|
afternoon safari at Bundala wil enable you to spot |
| various
types of birds, including Pelicans and Flamingos. |
| Our
safari-driver will even take you to lakes where mean-looking crocodiles
rest in the sun, soaking up the heat before plunging into the water
again ! And if you fancy a night-safari, just let us know. With a
local dinner prepared on the spot and an overnight stay in a tent,
our driver will drive you around when it is pitch dark . Animals that
roam by night will no doubt amaze you when the jeep's lights capture
them. |

|
| If
you desperately want to see Elephants |
 |
|
really close, then Pinnawala and its |
|
Elephant orphanage is the place to be. Young |
|
Eelephants, which are lost and roaming alone |
|
in the natural parks, are brought here and |
|
taken care of. You may watch the Elephants |
|
take a bath in group in the river and see how |
the caretakers feed the small ones milk.
