Kandy
and Nuwara Elliya
KANDY
With its roof covered in gold, the Temple of the
Tooth is the most important temple for Buddhists
in Sri Lanka. Kandy was the Royal city and Sri Lanka
who want to splash it out, can get married " Kandy
Style " (and so can you). It is a lovely city with
many shops offering antiques and the most beautiful
botanical garden of Sri Lanka only twenty minutes
away. Even if you are not a lover of flowers and
plants, you will enjoy walking around in it.
NUWARA ELIYA
Tea is Sri Lanka's no. 1 export product, and Nuwara
Eliya is our main production centre. You can come
and view the tea gardens, see how pluckers collect
the tea leaves and then visit the tea processing
in one of the many factories which were established
by the British. After your visit, sample our delicious
orange pekoe tea free (and purchase some straight
from the factory to take home !). Being built by
the British, Nuwara Eliya has this typical colonial
feeling: the Grand Hotel (formerly the residence
of the British Governor) still breathes the colonial
atmosphere. Between October and April, you can also
climb Adam's Peak during the day or at night and
look in awe at the splendid view you have from the
temple above ! |
